MMWOS -Celebrating Brooklyn in Prospect Park with Raekwon and More

July 9th was a night full of Hip hop at Prospect Park Bandshell! Only in Brooklyn can you find some of the hottest hip hop acts in the industry. So here is a look at Raekwon, Joell Ortiz, Smif-n-Wessum, Neek the Exotic and Large Professor, SKyZoo, Boot Camp Clik, and Rockness MonStar!

The crowd lost it when Raekwon. The entire crowd erupted and begin chanting Wu Tang! Raekwon performed a fan favorite C.R.E.A.M. You can never go wrong with classic hip hop. The Chef served up some serious Hip Hop with classic like Mary Jane, Ice Cream, Can't It all Be So Simple, and Criminology. Raekwon also presented great new artist ,JD Era. JD Era is now a part of Raekwon's new record label, ICEH20 Record.

Raekwon performed Shimmy Shimmy Ya, a touching tribute to fallen Wu tang artist O.D.B. The whole crowd was singing right along with Raekwon. R.I.P O.D.B!

Raekwon also dropped street anthems "The Jihad", "Glaciers of Ice", "Verbal Intercourse", "Surgical Gloves", and "Rainy Dayz" from the acclaimed albums Only Built 4 Cuban Linx and Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Part 2The mix of classic Raekwon records completed the night. Raekwon's DJ was going in on the 1's and 2's! Man he had the crowd going.  I have to say is my compliments to The Chef!

Joelle Ortiz had a crazy set at Prospect Park. Ortiz came in with some serious hits like "Nissan, Honda, Chevy", "Call Me (She Said)", and "Sing Like Bilal".  This Brooklyn native had the crowd going crazy when he performed "Brooklyn" and "Brooklyn Bullshit"from the his album - The Brick: Bodega Chronicles.  Joell also performed "Big Pun's Back", a Puerto Rico Day Parade anthem and tribute to Big Pun. Ortiz seriously represented for all the Boriquas at Prospect Park and in hip hop. I can not wait to see more of Joell in the future.

Joell represented for Slaughterhouse by performing "Sound Off" from the 2009 Slaughterhouse album. If you don't know, Slaughterhouse is a rap supergroup featuring Crooked I, Joe Budden, and Royce da 5'9". Slaughterhouse and Puerto Rico was in the building Saturday!

Skyzoo opened up the show with a great performance with hits from his acclaimed mixtape, The Great Debater and 2010 studio album Live from the Tape Deck! Skyzoo performed Designer Drugs, Complicated Rhythm, Frisbess, and Speakers Blast. The crowd was feeling everything that Skyzoo was spitting. With a live trumpet player on stage, Skyzoo put on a great show. This was a great opener for the Celebrate Brooklyn: Lyricist Lounge concert.

Large Professor, Neek the Exotic, and Satchel Paige put on a great set with tons of songs including a new joint "Still on The Hustle" and a classic "Faking the Funk". Other songs performed by the hip hop trio was "The Radar", "Hard", "Looking at the Front Door", and my favorite "Just a Friendly Game of Baseball". I am happy to see that Large Pro and Neek The Exotic has a new album coming out called Still on The Hustle. Still on The Hustle is a example of a true and original hip hop. Make sure you go get that.

Steele and Tek a.k.a Smif N Wessun performed "Timz N Hoodz Chek", "Sound Bwoy Bureill", and "That's Hard". The crowd went crazy when Smif N Wessun "Bucktown", which was a huge hit for the rap duo in 94'.  Sean Price and BuckShot graced the stage with some serious hip hop with "And So". BuckShot also brought Sean Price's baby daughter to the stage. I was loving the reunion of most of the members of the Boot Camp Clik. The Rocknes Monstah a.k.a Rock also came through and performed "Feel Me" with Smif N Wessun.
