Before celebrating her 25th birthday, indie-pop songstress Charlotte Sometimes already found herself praised by critics and superstars alike. Rolling Stone raved, "The moment she starts singing, you remember her slinky voice and why all four judges turned around during her audition [for The Voice.]" In addition to making the top 24 on Season 2 of The Voice on NBC, Charlotte Sometimes has been named a VH1 "You Oughta Know" artist and one of the "Top 100 Bands You Need To Know" by Alternative Press magazine. She has toured with artists such as Butch Walker, Gavin Degraw, Pat Monahan and The Hush Sound, and is currently on the road in support of her recent EP, Circus Head.

MMWOS: I loved you on The Voice, How has The Voice help you in the music industry? What advise would you give a contestant on The Voice?

C.S.: I think The Voice gave me this huge platform I wouldn't have had without it. I mean the first episode had over 17 million viewers! That's crazy! My advice for contestants is just to be yourself and have fun!

MMWOS: What is your favorite album of all time?

C.S.: Oh gosh! That's so tough! Probably Fiona Apple's When the pawn... but then I am also obsessed with Death Cab For Cutie'sTransatlanticism.

MMWOS: As a songwriter, who would you love to write a song for besides yourself?

C.S.: Kelly Clarkson! I love that woman ha!

MMWOS:What is the most difficult thing you had to endure in life? How did it affect your music?

C.S.: Hmmm, that's also a tough question! I think that whenever I am going through a tough time I think it's the worst time! I am very dramatic! I think the best music that comes out of me is usually when I am feeling dark.

MMWOS: Congrats on being apart of the Warped Tour! Which city are you excited to perform in?

C.S.: I think I am the most excited to play the Jersey date! Got to represent!

MMWOS: What aspect of the music making process excites you most, and what aspect discourages you the most?

C.S.: I think creating music is the most excited. When you are in the throes of a song. It's just such a beautiful moment. The most discouraging part is the business side and people's egos. It's gross.

MMWOS: Tell me about your latest album Circus Head? Where can my readers pick up your album?

C.S.: I think the album reflects where I was at the time. I was dating someone that I was mad about, but it wasn't really going anywhere. I was also broke and living in the city and it was all so frustrating and thrilling. There's folk elements, a little dance, and a whole lot o' crazayyy.

You can get the EP on Itunes, Amazon, Spotify, etc. www.charlottesometimesmusic.com

MMWOS: Finally what does music mean to you?

C.S.: It means I have something to wake up for.

I would like to thank Charlotte for the interview!
