MMWOS Talks to Desi Valentine

Hello all my music lovers. I have a great interview to share with you. I would like to introduce to you, Desi Valentine. Desi is a talented singer/songwriter from London with a soul voice and crazy good lyrics. With a unique musical style and tons of experience in the music industry, Desi is a must listen to!

Here is MMWOS talks to Desi Valentine

MMWOS: What is your earliest memory of music? In what way did that experience encourage you to become a singer?

Desi Valentine: My parents are music fanatics (though you don't want to here them sing lol)  so my home was full of music growing up. My first memory of music was hearing Ella Fitzgerald sing an album of Cole Porter songs on vinyl. Simply stunning and Ella is a huge influence of mine to this day.

MMWOS: What makes you different from other singers in the industry today?

Desi Valentine: There are some great artists out at the moment but I think that no other mainstream singers are exploring blues and funk the way that I am. Especially in the up coming record. I think we are just scratching the surface of where these genres could go if integrated with the sounds we have access to nowadays.

MMWOS: How has your hometown of London England, influence your sound?

Desi Valentine: Well two of my most influential artists are Brits,  Amy Winehouse and Adele. So musically I draw a lot from them.  Although american artists have been the influence for all three of us. I would say ultimately London has made me strong, grounded and brave enough to handle this crazy music business.

MMWOS: Who do you think is a real game-changer in the music industry?

Desi Valentine: For me it's Amy Winehouse. She was one of the first in this generation to stop people segregating the great music of the past and bring that greatness into the future. Outstanding vocals, style and most of all lyrics.

MMWOS: What aspect of the music making process excites you most, and what aspect discourages you the most?

Desi Valentine: What excites me most is getting to pour what is happening in my life into something creative. Pink is one of my favorite writers and she said that 'writing is like therapy' and I couldn't agree more. What discourages me is the sad fact that people generally don't buy albums anymore. When I was a boy I loved the idea of having an album on the shelves and nowadays those shelves are very sparse.

 MMWOS: Describe your musical style?

Desi Valentine: My style is Pop lead by funky blues and soul. I am proud to be known as a pop artist.

MMWOS: What is the most difficult thing you had to endure in life? How did it affect your music?

Desi Valentine: I lost my father 7 years ago. It was THE hardest thing I have ever faced. As a person it made me stronger but musically it has made me more vulnerable, now that I have access to those kind of emotions, I can draw from them to connect to people in my performances. I know I have someone on the other side watching out for me now.

MMWOS: Name your top 5 favorite musicians in the industry today.

That' tough to pick 5
Adele
Janelle Monae
Pink
Cee lo Green
Muse

MMWOS: Tell all my music lovers what is the latest coming from Desi Valentine.

Desi Valentine: You guys can look forward to lots of live shows around Los Angeles and some round the country. The Final Warning official video is out now so check it out. Follow me on twitter for updates on how the album is coming along and live show dates.
