New video Kid Cudi - Soundtrack 2 My Life

Showing backstage and the entire rap game experience in 4 minutes is pretty cool. It something different...I get sick of seeing video girls all over that damn screen. Great job Kid Cudi for thinking out of the box!

Side note : Rappers need to step their game up and get more creative!

BET Awards= WTH!

As the BET awards came on, I had high expectations of the performances, the fashion, and the overall attitude of the show. Well BET disappointed me once again. The show lacked organization, class, and showmanship.

The awards show was all over the place with Baby Boy movie references ( I am still confused about the whole damn skit!), Beyonce in a weird tutu (absolutely weird!), and a Young Money/Cash Money performance (It was full of profanity and pre-teens dancing on stage to a song called Every Girl! If memory serves me right that song is about F*&^ing every girl in the world! Get those teens off the stage!) BET =WTH!

The worst part was the absence of Dancers paying tribute to Michael Jackson. Michael inspired generations to dance and BET could not find someone to do a dance tribute for Michael! BET =WTH! I know there are many professional dancers in L.A, so what was the problem! BET =WTH!

For those who say that BET did not have enough time to plan a proper tribute for MJ. That is not an excuse for the craziness that transpired on Sunday! If you are good at your job, you make adjustments! Whoever planned this show should be fired. The only thing that I would say about this show is that it was memorable - but not in a good way!

Here are a few suggestions BET should have done to make this tribute to Michael Jackson memorial in a good way :

  • Show Idea number one: Separate the awards into two sections. The First hour should be a regular awards show with presentations, the O'Jay Tribute and performances. The second half of the show would be dedicated entirely to Michael Jackson. This would include a dancing tribute (hip hop, classic, tap, and all in between), great musicians singing music by Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5, and every one's thoughts on Michael Jackson's life. A video montage of His videos and pictures throught out the years would appear at the end of the show.

  • Show Idea Number two: Postpone the BET awards until next week! This would have gave BET enough time to set up a proper tribute with various acts in honor of Michael Jackson. I would have given the O'Jays a separate tribute to their life's work. They deserve a show that is dedicated just to them.

There were good moments at the BET awards.

The best thing about the show was the Janet Jackson's moving words regarding her brother, the O'Jay performances ( The O'Jays and the tribute to the O'Jay's), and the Michael Jackson Tributes despite the disorganization do to the BET Staff! Jamie Foxx did a great job as a host too.

The Best Performances of the Night-The O'Jays, Neyo solo, BBD a.k.a Bell Biv DeVoe, Guy (Sorry I forgot to mention them before on twitter), Tevin Campbell, Ciara ( even Ciara who is not know for her sing did a nice tribute song to MJ!), Tyrese, New Edition ( Absolutely great performance), Janet ( what a moving speech. My Prayers goes out to the Jackson family and MJ children!), Maxwell, Jamie Foxx & Neyo debut, Trey Songs,Johnny Gil, Monica (Keyshia Cole was OK but not memorable), and Travis baker ( his drumming was bananas)

The show as a whole was a second rate! According to Twitter and other social networks, many agree! No more excuses BET, get it together or you will loose your audience to another network like TV One! TV One is on your tail! For me this was the straw that broke the camels back.
This is not a post to "hate on" BET Awards but the truth. We should demand the same quality of work from BET as we do the Grammy's and the AMA! Real Talk!

If you want to see a great tribute check out the Apollo Theatre. The Apollo will be open from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday June 30th.
